The Excretory system

The excretory system also removes waste like the digestive system, but manages waste of the blood instead of waste from food.

Parts of System Include:

  • Renal Artery

  • Renal Vein

  • Ureter

  • Bladder

  • Kidneys

  • Urethra

Process...

The process that the kidney undergoes is a highly tedious process that starts with the Renal Artery. First off, the Renal Artery brings blood over to the kidneys to get filtered. The blood then goes into the kidneys and the kidneys have tons of nephrons. The nephrons are the parts that actually filter the blood. Anyway, the blood enter the glomerulus which is located in the Bowman's capsule and the waste is deposited there. With the waste that is deposited there, the waste then goes through the pathway concentrating the waste creating urine. The urine then travel down the Ureter into the bladder until released through the urethra. The whole process usually reabsorbs 99% of the water back disposing of 1%.

When failure occurs...

Kidney failures can occur in a variety of ways. An example would be kidney stones. Kidney stones are created when the concentration of the urine inside of the kidney is too high therefore crystalizing the subtance creating a salt crystal inside. The solution to any type of kidney failure is called kidney dialysis. Although kidney dialysis is a solution, it is only a temporary solution because the body cannot maintain the stress of the machine.

Fun Fact!!!

People can live off of ONE kidney!!! Looks like we got backup!

Yay! a quiz!
